FARM DESCRIPTION
We are a small family farm and understand the importance of growing food without the use of conventional fertilizers or synthetic pesticides. Our mission is to provide healthful food to our local community that is safe and nourishing. We practice crop rotation, soil fertility and exclusion to limit pest damage. Our cultural practices are intended to be regenerative and by building healthy soils we grow healthy food. Caruso Farm sells fruits and vegetables grown on 10 acres through a CSA, farmers markets and to local restaurants and institutions.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Farmer will be engaged in all aspects of producing fruits and vegetables including working with a crew of 3+ experienced farmers, implementing a production plan (field prep., seeding, cultivating, inventory, harvesting and packing).
The ideal candidate will have more than 3 years of vegetable production experience, operate tractors for tillage and cultivation, construction skills.
A typical work week during peak season looks as follows:
Monday - harvest and pack to fill orders, inventory for fresh sheet,irrigate and weed/cultivate
Tuesday - irrigate, weed and cultivate
Wednesday - seed, transplant, irrigate and weed/cultivate
Thursday - harvest and pack to fill orders, weed/cultivate
Friday - Harvest and pack for weekend farm stand sales.
